There are several ways to ensure the best skilled workers of tomorrow. The path that Postbus has taken for its apprenticeship training was honoured with the FIVA Culture Award.
At the end of 2023, the Austrian Motor Veterans Association (ÖMVV), together with Postbus, submitted the first apprentice project of its kind with the Puch 500 and thus the lighthouse project for the FIVA* Culture Award. The annual award recognises outstanding initiatives in the field of promotion, research and education of historic vehicles that also arouse the interest of the younger generation. Eight international projects were submitted. Postbus was able to convince the international jury of experts and was honoured with the coveted prize. The award recognises the innovative training initiative and the sustainable investment in young people - our future - as well as promoting the preservation of historic vehicles.
Project enters its third round
The apprentice project is not only an enrichment for the training of our skilled workers of tomorrow, but also proof of a creative educational programme with sustainable learning success. This is why the project is being extended for the third time. In December, the young trainees at the Postbus workshop in Graz had already used hammer drills and spanners to dismantle the 1959 BWM Isetta into its individual parts. Now it's time to tackle the bodywork of the cute vehicle - the rusty areas are being derusted and new sheet metal parts welded in. So there is still plenty of work to do. Over the next few weeks and months, the doors, axles, brakes, engine, clutch and gearbox as well as all add-on parts will be professionally refurbished and restored to their original condition before the individual parts are reassembled and the vehicle repaired.
